So after we got certificated we started with a few cartons of curries but soon the first pallets arrived.

Nowadays we do a lot in organic food distribution in Europe. And we are now a so called International Distribution center with a warehouse space of 12.000m2 and 16 loadingdocks in Waddinxveen, just outside Rotterdam. We have multiple clients from all over the world. And not without reason. The market for organic food in Europe is booming. Luxembourg, Austria, Denmark, France and Germany are the biggest markets in Europe. Germany alone does 16 billion Euros in sales and France follows with 13 billion in sales. And although the United Kingdom is no longer part of the European Union it has a retail value of 930 million British pounds. If you are looking at consumer trends and the highest level per capita consumption than Switzerland and Denmark stand out. The motivation of buying organic food is the nr. of food scandals in the past resulting now in health reasons and to avoid pesticides or other chemical treatments.

Consumer trends

Nowadays you can find organic food in almost every supermarket. A lot of consumers like to support organic. But they do not tend to accept higher prices. Interviewing consumers learned that the vast majority are willing to pay 5% more for organic food. But only a 15% responded that they are willing to pay more than 10% more for organic food.
Research from BlueWeave Consulting predicts the organic food market will grow at an annual rate of 8.7%. By comparison, the overall food industry is expected to grow by 3.8% annually through 2027. (Source: Businessnews daily) That should give you thinking?
